Child nutrition professionals from Elmore and Autauga County schools recently gathered for the Child Nutrition Cup, a back-to-school training event. The event helped prepare over 200 cafeteria managers and staff for the upcoming school year, celebrating their important role in supporting student success.
Training and Support
The training sessions, held at 17 Springs in Millbrook, included presentations from the Alabama State Department of Education on reimbursable school meals and cashier procedures, as well as food safety and health inspection updates from the Alabama Department of Public Health.
According to Cacyce Davis, child nutrition director for Elmore County Schools, the programs are based on state and federal regulations, with a focus on providing students with the best possible meals and customer service. Audra Segers, child nutrition director for Autauga County Schools, emphasized the importance of teamwork and a unified front for students.
Both Elmore and Autauga County schools will offer free breakfast and lunch to students again this year.
