Arlington, Texas – The National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation revealed Tuesday that Troy M. Bertram will serve as the museum’s next chief executive officer. Bertram, a U.S. Army veteran who began his service as a commissioned ROTC officer and later worked as a communications officer with the 82nd Airborne Division, was selected after a nationwide search to succeed Chris Cassidy, who led the organization through its construction phase and stepped down at the end of 2025.
Veteran leadership for a national tribute
In a news release, Bertram expressed enthusiasm for the role, saying, “Medal of Honor recipients are some of the most inspiring people. I am humbled to be part of the team trusted with their legacies and empowered to ensure the lessons of their service endure for generations to come.” His appointment underscores the foundation’s desire to pair military experience with corporate expertise to further the museum’s educational mission.
Bertram’s professional background spans more than two decades in sales and business development. From 2002 to 2013 he served as director of sales for Dell Technologies. He then moved to Amazon Web Services, where he was executive director of the global public sector until 2020. Most recently, he held the position of executive managing director of the cloud public sector for Google, a role he left earlier this year.
Local ties and community involvement
Born and raised in Texas, Bertram has been active in regional charitable work. Since 2024 he has served on the advisory board of Folds of Honor Central Texas, an organization that provides scholarships to children of fallen service members. His deep roots in the state and his veteran status are seen as aligning with the museum’s focus on honoring American heroes.
Charlotte Jones, chair of the foundation’s board of directors and chief brand officer for the Dallas Cowboys, praised Bertram’s blend of experience. “His passion to serve his fellow Americans by leading this mission stood out as what we were looking for in our next CEO,” Jones said. “Beyond his traditional credentials, his unique background positions him to elevate our work at a time America needs this unifying example more than ever.”
Continuing the museum’s educational outreach
The National Medal of Honor Museum, located in the heart of Arlington’s Entertainment District, opened its doors in 2024 and includes a permanent exhibition, a research library, and the Griffin Institute, a leadership program for students. Medal of Honor recipient Jack Jacobs, a board member, welcomed the new leadership, noting that the museum’s stories “inspire others to make a difference in their own communities.” Jacobs added that the museum’s 250th anniversary year makes the focus on values and service especially resonant.
Bertram’s first priorities include expanding the museum’s reach to larger audiences, strengthening partnerships with schools and veteran organizations, and advancing the Griffin Institute’s curriculum. He also indicated plans to explore additional fundraising initiatives to support the museum’s long‑term sustainability.
The leadership change comes as the museum continues to solidify its role as a national center for honoring bravery and educating the public about the sacrifices of Medal of Honor recipients. With a veteran at the helm, the foundation hopes to deepen its connection to the service‑member community while broadening its impact across Texas and the nation.
