The University of Arizona softball team has announced the addition of Danielle Gibson Whorton as an assistant coach. Gibson Whorton, a former Arizona State Sun Devil, will be working with the Wildcats’ offense.
Coaching Experience
Gibson Whorton spent the last season as the hitting coach at the University of California. She helped the Golden Bears achieve a .270 team batting average and an .802 OPS. Prior to her time at California, she coached at the University of Arkansas, where she helped the team reach the postseason both years and coached four NFCA All-Americans.
Gibson Whorton started her coaching career as a volunteer assistant at the University of Georgia in 2023. She helped the Bulldogs produce four All-SEC honorees and two NFCA All-Americans. Gibson Whorton has also played professionally with Athletes Unlimited and recently retired from professional softball.
