The Lyric Theatre in Oklahoma City is set to host the beloved musical ‘Annie’ from June 16 to June 21, promising a delightful experience for families. The production features Kenzie Beckham as Annie and Barbara Schoenhofer as Miss Hannigan, bringing to life a story filled with hope, kindness, and generosity.

Local Talent Shines

Kenzie Beckham, who plays the titular role of Annie, expressed her excitement about being the lead. ‘I think a lot of people think being a lead there’s a lot of pressure, but for me, it’s just a lot of fun because you get to interact with all the people,’ she shared. Beckham has been performing since she was four years old, and this marks her first performance with the Lyric Theatre. ‘I’ve done it ever since at Sooner Theatre, and the cast and crew here are just amazing,’ she added.

Barbara Schoenhofer, portraying the character of Miss Hannigan, has been part of the Lyric Theatre since 1999. She described the theatre as a special place with incredible camaraderie among the cast and crew. ‘Everybody is extremely supportive of each other,’ Schoenhofer noted. She also provided insight into her character, saying, ‘Hannigan doesn’t hate the kids; she hates her life, and it’s so brilliantly written comedically.’

A Message of Hope

The production team emphasized the uplifting themes of the musical. ‘The musical is about hope, and it’s about kindness, and it’s about generosity, and I think we all need that right now,’ Schoenhofer remarked. This message of hope and kindness is particularly resonant in today’s world, making ‘Annie’ a timely and meaningful experience for audiences.

For those interested in attending, tickets are available for purchase, offering an opportunity to enjoy a classic story that continues to inspire audiences of all ages.
