ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A jury has found an Albuquerque Uber driver not guilty in the fatal shooting of a passenger.
On Friday, jurors returned a not-guilty verdict for Clayton Benedict in connection with the 2019 death of James Porter.
Benedict had initially faced a charge of second-degree murder, but after a review by the state Supreme Court the accusation was reduced to manslaughter.
Benedict told authorities that Porter acted violently and threatened him, and that he fired his weapon in self-defense.
