In an effort to support local businesses during ongoing construction, the city of Albuquerque is offering free parking at the downtown Copper Garage. This initiative aims to alleviate the impact of road closures near Fifth Street and Central Avenue, which have made access challenging for customers.
Supporting Local Businesses
The city’s Parking Division has announced that customers visiting select businesses on the 500 block of Central Avenue Northwest can enjoy up to two hours of free parking at the Copper Garage, located at 400 Copper Ave. NW. This is facilitated through a QR code provided by participating businesses, which validates the parking.
The businesses participating in this program include 505 Food Hall, Man’s Hat Shop, Red Door, Studio 519, R & D Smoke Shop, Massage, Flamenco Works Inc., Richard Levy Gallery, 516 ARTS, and Sushi Hana. This initiative provides a convenient alternative for visitors who might otherwise be discouraged by limited parking options during the construction period.
Encouraging Community Engagement
By offering this parking incentive, Albuquerque aims to maintain the vibrancy of its downtown area, encouraging residents and visitors alike to continue supporting local businesses despite the temporary inconvenience caused by roadwork. This effort underscores the city’s commitment to fostering a thriving local economy and community spirit.
