The Alamo Colleges Board of Trustees has given the green light for college officials to seek approval for a new workforce certificate program in land surveying. This program would be the first of its kind in the region, providing students with clear pathways to credentials and family-sustaining occupations.
Program Details
The program is designed to lead students to multiple credentials, including a Land Surveying Technician Occupational Skills Award, a Land Surveying Technician Level 1 certification, and a Level 2 certificate with state licensure. The total cost of the program for students who complete all levels is approximately $5,300.
The program is expected to start in the fall of 2027 with a cohort of 50 students. The estimated five-year investment for the program is $643,774, which would require one full-time faculty member, adjunct faculty, and equipment. However, the expected five-year revenue is $1,667,382.
The program will be housed under the Northwest Vista College’s School of Emerging Technologies, and it is expected to be offered online, with the option to expand to the Northwest Vista College Education and Training Center in the Boerne area.
