AES Indiana has made changes to its budget billing program, now called levelized billing. This program allows customers to pay a fixed amount each month, with adjustments made at set points throughout the year based on electricity usage.
How Levelized Billing Works
With levelized billing, the monthly payment is the average of the last 12 bills. AES will review bills twice a year, in April and October, to determine if the monthly payment should be adjusted. If electricity usage has decreased, the monthly payment will be lower, and if usage has increased, the payment will be higher.
Customers who were enrolled in budget billing and did not opt out by July 31 are automatically enrolled in the levelized billing plan. Those who qualify for and have applied for state energy assistance were also automatically enrolled.
Customers can enroll in the levelized billing plan by signing in to their account and viewing their estimated monthly bill. To be eligible, customers must be up to date on their bills.
