A person was injured Wednesday after accidentally discharging a semi-automatic rifle while aboard a Metro bus in the Ladera Heights area, authorities said.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded around 10:30 a.m. to reports of a gunshot wound on a bus near Slauson Avenue and Fairfax Avenue.

According to Metro, the incident occurred while Bus Line 108 was stopped at the intersection. Here, a rider accidentally discharged a semi-automatic rifle and suffered injuries.

The person was transported to a local hospital, Metro said. No other injuries were reported. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting and asks anyone with information to call the LASD Transit Services Bureau at 323-563-5000.
