Great news for the Lehigh Valley workforce: Nokia has announced a $30 million expansion of its photonics plant in Lehigh County that will add more than 250 advanced manufacturing jobs to the region.
The announcement, backed by Governor Shapiro, signals a major vote of confidence in the area’s skilled workforce and its growing role in semiconductor and photonics production. Nokia’s investment will expand its semiconductor production operations in Pennsylvania, bringing high-quality manufacturing jobs to the community.
The expansion is a welcome milestone for Allentown and the surrounding Lehigh Valley, where advanced manufacturing has long been a cornerstone of the local economy. With more than 250 new positions on the horizon, the project promises meaningful opportunities for job seekers across the region.
In addition to the Nokia news, the Allentown Rotary Club added to the week’s good cheer by awarding scholarships to three local students — Golebiowska, Saliby, and Thor — recognizing their achievements and investing in the next generation of Allentown’s leaders.
Together, these announcements reflect a community that continues to grow, invest in its people, and look confidently toward the future.
