Darrell Weaver, a former Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics director and state senator, has been appointed as the new Cleveland County sheriff. Weaver was selected by Cleveland County commissioners after an extensive vetting process, which included 16 applicants and nine interviews.
Background and Goals
Weaver, who is from Moore, was elected to the state Senate in 2018. Before his time in the legislature, he spent 28 years with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, including nine years as its director. He was also inducted into the Law Enforcement Hall of Fame.
Weaver describes himself as a family man and strong in his faith. His three goals for the role are integrity, accountability, and service to the community. “This is about making a good sheriff’s office better. I understand that, but that’s really not my goal. My goal is to make this sheriff’s office the best sheriff’s office,” Weaver said.
