Firefly Aerospace, based in Austin, Texas, is expected to secure a $110 million U.S. Export-Import Bank (EXIM) loan to fund the expansion of its spacecraft production facilities in the state.
Expansion and Job Creation
The loan, which is part of EXIM’s ‘Make More in America Initiative’, is expected to create about 200 jobs in Texas. Firefly Aerospace has been expanding its operations in recent years, including the successful landing of its uncrewed Blue Ghost spacecraft on the moon.
The company also launches customer satellites to orbit from the U.S. with its Alpha rocket and builds satellite platforms that can host an array of onboard missions in space. The loan is expected to have a 12-month availability period and a 10-year repayment period.
