A Lake Worth man is facing several charges after police say he fled from officers and crashed into another vehicle along South Military Trail.
According to the report, officers with the Atlantis Police Department spotted a red Tesla SUV speeding northbound on South Military Trail on June 15. Police said the vehicle was traveling about 72 mph in a 45 mph zone and was changing lanes quickly to pass other drivers.
Officers tried to pull the driver over, but investigators said the Tesla sped away and ran a red light at Melaleuca Lane. The vehicle then crashed into a white SUV that had the green light.
After the crash, police said three people ran from the Tesla. The driver, identified as Jake Pinkney Jr., ran from the scene but was later caught after officers used a Taser, according to the report.
A passenger, identified as Garon Andrews, was also detained nearby after slipping while trying to run away, police said.
Authorities said Pinkney was taken to a hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
Pinkney faces multiple charges, including aggravated fleeing and eluding, leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, resisting an officer without violence, and reckless driving.
