The Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees met on Monday, June 15, 2026, to discuss key district updates and recognize outstanding students and staff. The board recognized the 2025-2026 Substitute Teachers of the Month, who were nominated by campus administrators for their exceptional commitment to excellence, consistency, and reliability.

Student Achievements

Students from Rockwall High School and Rockwall-Heath High School competed at the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Band, Orchestra, Choir, and Piano contests in Austin, Texas. A total of 112 students and staff were recognized for their achievements, including gold and silver medal winners.

The Rockwall High School Yellowjacket Baseball Team was also recognized for advancing to the UIL Baseball State Semifinals for the first time since 2005. The team, led by Head Coach Barry Rose, compiled an impressive overall record of 27-18-3 this season.

Leadership Update

The Board of Trustees approved a status change for Dr. Megan Gist from Chief Academic Officer to Deputy Superintendent. This change expands Dr. Gist’s responsibilities within her existing Cabinet role and does not add a new position to the District’s leadership team.
