Apex Budget Raises Property Tax

Apex property owners will see a rise in their property tax rate from 35.6 cents to 37.35 cents per $100 of assessed value, resulting in an additional $105 per year for a $600,000 home. This increase is part of the town’s fiscal year 2026-27 budget, which aims to enhance public safety staffing, fleet replacement, parks and recreation programs, technology improvements, and capital projects.

Infrastructure and Utilities

The budget allocates significant funds for infrastructure and utilities, including electric system expansion to the Veridea development and the future North Carolina Children’s Hospital, as well as electric substation work, water system upgrades, and stream stabilization. Additionally, residents may experience higher costs due to proposed changes in electric, water, sewer, and solid waste rates.

The budget proposal comes as Apex continues to grow, leading to increased demand for town services, infrastructure, and staffing. Town leaders will review the budget before adopting a final spending plan.
