The University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) Class of 2026 has continued the tradition of taking graduation photos at Henley Gate. With over 6,700 students in the class, many of them took part in this tradition.
A Time for Celebration
Students shared their thoughts and feelings about graduating. Data science major Chloe Anderson said, ‘We took some photos around campus the other day and we were like we have to come to Henley to take some here as well.’ Electrical and computer engineering major Nina Schmier expressed her emotions, saying, ‘I am just feeling so emotional and so lucky to be here on this campus we have an ocean view right here and all the memories.’
Cheri Reese, who is headed to Howard University to study medicine, wore a necklace with a photo of her and her late grandfather, who believed in her. Many graduates wore graduation stoles or sashes and popped champagne, while others posed with friends.
Commencement ceremonies started over the weekend and will wrap up on Father’s Day, Sunday, by the Campus Lagoon. The graduation ceremonies are being streamed online.
