A judge has ordered a new competency evaluation for James Savage, who is accused of beating and kidnapping a woman in 2024, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Accusations and Charges
Deputies said Savage attacked his former girlfriend and kidnapped her from a home in Wildwood. He is also accused of firing shots while barricading himself inside a home for 22 hours. The standoff left the home Savage was inside with extensive damage.
The original charges include shooting into an occupied dwelling, being a felon in possession of a firearm, resisting arrest with violence, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and violating a domestic violence injunction.
Savage was found incompetent to stand trial last month. A judge has since ordered a new competency evaluation. He is expected back in court on July 7 at 1 p.m.
