Families in Moscow, Idaho, have a unique opportunity to engage their children in health education through a fun and interactive event. Gritman Medical Center is hosting a free Teddy Bear Clinic on Saturday, June 20, starting at 10 a.m. This event is designed to teach children about maintaining a healthy lifestyle in an enjoyable manner.
Interactive Learning for Kids
Children are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animals to the clinic, where they can learn about various hospital services. Activities include checking their stuffed animals’ vital signs, applying bandages, and weighing and measuring them. These hands-on experiences aim to familiarize children with medical procedures in a non-threatening way.
First responders and students from the University of Idaho WWAMI Medical Education Program will be present to guide the children through these activities. Additionally, attendees can tour police cars, a fire engine, and an ambulance, providing a comprehensive look at emergency services.
Community Engagement
The event takes place at Gritman Medical Center, located at 700 S. Main St. in Moscow, from 10 a.m. to noon. Families can enjoy refreshments while supplies last and meet Gritman’s cheerful Charlie Bear mascot. The event underscores the importance of community involvement in promoting health education among young residents.
For safety, Main and Eighth streets around the hospital will be closed, and attendees are advised to use the south-side visitor parking lot or street parking. Check-in will be available at the emergency department entrance or the main admitting entrance.
