U.S. Highway 95 Resurfacing to Affect Traffic Between Fruitland and Payette

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) has commenced a significant road resurfacing project on U.S. Highway 95, which will impact summer traffic between Fruitland and Payette. The project, which began this week, involves rebuilding the road base and applying new pavement in sections, ensuring one area is completed before moving to the next.

Project Details and Traffic Impact

Construction has started in Payette, south of the U.S. Highway 95 and 16th Street intersection, and will proceed southward to the Payette River Bridge. During this time, the highway will be reduced to one lane in both directions. Each section of the project is expected to take several days to complete, according to ITD.

In narrower sections, such as parts of Payette, flaggers will be present to direct traffic through the one-lane work zones. Additionally, crews are replacing underground utilities and constructing curbs from 16th Street to 24th Street in Fruitland, and between 3rd Avenue and 6th Avenue in Payette.

Completion Timeline and Safety Measures

The ITD anticipates that the construction will be completed by this fall. Drivers are urged to exercise caution in the work zones, reduce speed, and be vigilant for flaggers and workers. For real-time updates on road conditions and closures, drivers can visit 511.idaho.gov or use the 511 mobile app.

Further information about the project, including maps and construction updates, is available on ITD’s project website. Interested individuals can also receive updates via email by contacting [email protected] or by calling 208-826-5895.
