At approximately 12:25 p.m. on Tuesday, a white Toyota Tacoma smashed through the front windows of Medina Jewelers on Medina Avenue in Lynnwood, Washington. The sudden impact shattered the glass and sent employees scrambling for cover.
Masked suspects enter the store
Surveillance footage captured three vehicles circling the parking lot before the Tacoma barreled into the storefront. After the crash, several masked suspects rushed inside, one appearing to carry an axe. The rapid intrusion prompted an immediate response from the store’s owner.
Owner draws firearm, suspects flee
According to Lynnwood Police Department spokesperson Cmdr. Joe Dickenson, the owner retrieved a gun and fired, causing the group to retreat. No injuries were reported, and police have not confirmed whether any of the suspects were struck by gunfire.
“It was broad daylight and a pretty rare occurrence for us,” Dickenson told FOX13 Seattle. “You had several witnesses that were out and about, several pedestrians walking around; all of a sudden, a car crashing into a building and shots ringing out is cause for alarm.”
Police investigation continues
Detectives are still determining whether any of the suspects were armed. The fleeing party escaped in a black BMW SUV and a silver Toyota or Infiniti sedan. The BMW struck a parked vehicle while fleeing and may have damage to its front passenger side.
Authorities are asking anyone who recognizes the suspects or the vehicles captured on surveillance footage to submit tips to [email protected], referencing case No. 2026‑37986.
Community response
Local residents expressed shock at the brazen daylight robbery attempt. “Seeing a truck drive straight into a storefront and hearing gunshots is something you don’t expect in our neighborhood,” said one nearby shop owner who asked to remain anonymous.
The incident underscores the importance of vigilance and rapid response in protecting small businesses. Lynnwood Police continue to review video evidence and encourage the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.
