Everman, Texas – Residents of Everman are invited to a candlelight vigil on Monday, October 24, at 6 p.m. to honor the memory of Noel Rodriguez‑Alvarez, a 6‑year‑old boy whose tragic disappearance sparked a nationwide investigation.
Vigil details
The vigil will be held in Clyde Pittman Park, located at 300 Wichita Street, adjacent to the playground that was dedicated to Noel in 2023. Attendees are encouraged to wear light blue, Noel’s favorite color, as a visual tribute.
Background of the case
Noel was last confirmed alive in October 2022. His disappearance was reported to Everman police in March 2023, prompting a welfare check at the request of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. His mother, Cindy Rodriguez‑Singh, initially claimed Noel lived with his biological father in Mexico, a statement later rejected by investigators.
Two days after the welfare check, Rodriguez‑Singh traveled abroad with her husband, Arshdeep Singh, and six other children, leaving Noel behind. In October 2023, a Tarrant County grand jury indicted her on a capital‑murder charge. The FBI added her to its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list in July 2025, and she was apprehended in India in August 2025 before being returned to the United States.
In April 2026, a Tarrant County judge ruled Rodriguez‑Singh incompetent to stand trial and ordered her placement in a state mental‑health facility for competency restoration. The indictment remains pending.
Discovery of remains
In May 2026, investigators returned to Noel’s former Everman home and uncovered human remains outside the property. Dental records confirmed the remains as Noel’s on May 15, concluding the long‑standing search for answers.
Community response
Everman officials released a statement on October 7, expressing condolences to Noel’s father, siblings, grandparents, and extended family, and asked residents to respect the family’s privacy. The city described Noel as “a sweet, loving, friendly child who enjoyed playing with toy cars, loved the color blue, and had a special way of making people around him feel welcome.”
“Noel was more than a case, more than an investigation, and more than a headline,” the city said. “He was a child. He was loved. He mattered. And he will never be forgotten.”
Family arrangements
Noel’s family is preparing a private funeral; details of the service have not been publicly disclosed.
The October 24 vigil offers Everman residents an opportunity to come together, light candles, and honor Noel’s memory while supporting his grieving family.
