Meghan Markle in early talks to return to acting with Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Gentlemen’

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is reportedly in very early discussions to appear in season three of the Guy Ritchie‑produced drama series The Gentlemen. The series, which stars Theo James, Kaya Scodelario and Giancarlo Esposito, is being filmed in the United Kingdom and follows a fictional duke who inherits a sprawling estate that sits atop a large cannabis operation.

Potential comeback raises questions about identity

Industry observers note that a return to scripted acting could represent the most stable professional identity for Markle after years of varied ventures. Doug Eldridge, founder of Achilles PR, told Fox News Digital that the “lingering problem” for Markle has been finding a lasting role once the camera stops rolling. He said, “She’s ridden a carousel of career horses, yet nothing has seemingly stuck.”

Meghan previously made a brief cameo as herself in the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios comedy Close Personal Friends in 2025. A role in The Gentlemen would be her first substantial acting job since leaving the long‑running legal drama Suits in 2018.

Family considerations and business ties

A spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed that the couple plans to spend an extended period in the United Kingdom this autumn, allowing their children to spend more time there. While their business operations remain based in the United States and they will keep their California home, the potential acting project was cited as a factor in the decision to return to Britain.

Meghan’s recent media ventures have had mixed results. Her Spotify podcast “Archetypes” ended after one season in 2023, a planned Netflix animated series titled “Pearl” was scrapped, and her lifestyle brand was relaunched as “As Ever” in 2025. In March 2026, a Sussex spokesperson said the Netflix series “With Love, Meghan” would continue as seasonal specials rather than a full third season.

Public reaction and future prospects

Commentators are divided on whether audiences will welcome Markle’s return. Kinsey Schofield, host of “Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered,” expressed skepticism, noting that Markle has “spent six years in California with a multimillion‑dollar Netflix relationship and Tyler Perry on speed dial.” She added that the role could be a “clever choice” because the series has a strong creative pedigree, but warned that Markle would need to “disappear into a character rather than have every scene become about Meghan Markle.”

Recent polls indicate that both Harry and Meghan rank near the bottom of the British royal family’s popularity, trailing only former Prince Andrew. Nonetheless, Schofield acknowledged that Markle’s name still draws global curiosity, stating, “Love her or loathe her, people will watch the first episode just to see whether she can still act.”

Whether the potential role will revive Markle’s acting career or simply add another chapter to her series of public reinventions remains to be seen. Industry insiders suggest that a strong script—similar to the one that revived Demi Moore’s career—could be key to a successful comeback.
