Andy’s Frozen Custard has requested about $4.4 million in tax relief to build its new headquarters in Springfield. The company’s CEO, Andy Kuntz, presented the proposal to the Springfield City Council on July 13.
Proposal Details
The proposed project includes over 43,000 square feet of office space and 9,600 square feet of warehouse space on a 10-acre plot. The company has requested Chapter 100 development bonds be issued by the city as means for the tax relief, which is estimated to total about $4.4 million over the 25-year project.
Councilmember Brandon Jenson asked Kuntz if the company would consider developing a campus-style headquarters in downtown Springfield. Kuntz replied that the company has outgrown its downtown headquarters and wants to own the property where it builds its new headquarters.
Local Impact
Kuntz stated that the company plans to hire local contractors to build the headquarters. He also mentioned that the company has relationships with many people in the Springfield region and uses Springfield manufacturers and suppliers as often as it can.
The City Council will vote on the bill and Andy’s request at the July 27 meeting.
