An ocean water closure is in effect in Laguna Beach due to a 2,000-gallon sewage spill. The closure, which was ordered by the OC Health Care Agency’s Environmental Health Division, affects the area one quarter mile upcoast and one quarter mile downcoast of Anita Street at Thalia Beach.
The spill was caused by a malfunction of a force main sewer line pump. The area will remain closed to ocean water contact for a minimum of three days, or until the results of water quality monitoring are acceptable.
