Kentucky Venues has a new leader after CEO and president David Beck was removed from the position during a closed-session meeting on Wednesday. Mike Berry was named interim CEO.
Change Comes After Supreme Court Ruling
The change comes after Kentucky’s Supreme Court ruled the State Fair Board’s recent restructuring by lawmakers was unconstitutional. Gov. Andy Beshear was in favor of the decision, stating that he wants to keep pushing tourism efforts in Louisville, particularly with the Humana project that could create another enormous hotel.
Beshear said, ‘We are at a really important time for the Fair Board and for Louisville, where we can really step up in class.’ He emphasized the need for more and better communication and cooperation between organizations like the Fair Board, the Louisville CVB, and the arena.
Kentucky Venues manages the Expo Center and the International Convention Center. The next big event coming up for Kentucky Venues is the State Fair from Aug. 20-30 at the Expo Center.
