Mount Rainier National Park is offering free admission for the 4th of July holiday weekend, from Friday to Sunday, July 3-5. The park is expecting a busy weekend, so visitors are advised to plan ahead to avoid congestion.
Tips for Visiting the Park
To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit, the park service recommends arriving early or late in the day to avoid busy areas such as Paradise and Sunrise. Visitors should also have a backup plan in case parking is full at their destination.
Sunrise Road will be open on July 4, with information services available at the Sunrise Visitor Center over the weekend. The White River Campground is partially opening, with loops A and B available, but there is no water available, and visitors should bring their own supplies.
A fire ban is in effect parkwide, and all campfires and ignition of wood, briquettes, or any fuel in fire pits, fire pans, and BBQ grills are prohibited. The Jackson Visitor Center and Paradise Inn are open at Paradise, and the Longmire Museum and National Park Inn are open at Longmire.
For more information on park hours, road status, and construction impacts, visitors can check the park’s website at go.nps.gov/MORAroads and go.nps.gov/MORAhours.
