The US has imposed sanctions on five Cuban entities, including those linked to the Castro family, in an effort to pressure the Cuban regime. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the sanctions, which target entities generating revenue for the Cuban government.
Sanctions Target Cuban Regime
The sanctions include three entities associated with the previously designated Grupo de Administración Empresarial S.A. (GAESA), as well as one member of the extended Castro family. The move is part of the US’s ongoing efforts to isolate the Cuban regime and pressure it to reform.
The US has designated these entities pursuant to President Trump’s Executive Order (E.O.) 14404, which aims to impose sanctions on those responsible for repression in Cuba and threats to US national security and foreign policy.
