Mosquitos infected with West Nile Virus have been found in Bernalillo County, according to the New Mexico Department of Health. The health department says mosquitos were collected at a routine monitoring location near the Rio Grande and the UNM Center for Global Health confirmed the virus.
No human cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in New Mexico this year. In 2025, the health department reported 52 cases with 11 deaths related to the virus.
