Country singer Zach Top is speaking out about the state of modern country music, saying it has become too perfect and lost some of its soul. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Top discussed his new song, “Good Girls & Cowgirls,” and why he thinks bluegrass music is gaining popularity.
Top believes that people are searching for music that is more raw and real, and that bluegrass is a genre that provides that. He cited Tyler Childers and Zach Bryan as examples of artists who are finding success with a more authentic sound.
Traditional Country Music Resurgence
Top is known for playing traditional honky-tonk music and is credited with helping to revive traditional country music. He released his first EP in 2022 and made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry the same year. Since then, he has released two successful albums and won several awards, including ACM New Male Artist of the Year and CMA New Artist of the Year.
Top’s latest song, “Good Girls & Cowgirls,” is set to be released on August 21, along with another new song, “Other Side of Hurtin’.” He is also working on his third album, which is expected to be released next spring.
