Aaron Judge, the three-time AL MVP, will have his injured rib tested during the All-Star break. The New York Yankees are hopeful the results show Judge is healing.
Judge has not played since May 31 and went on the injured list June 5 with a stress fracture of his right rib after a CT scan, an MRI, and a meeting with a specialist.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said, “I don’t think we want to put him at risk of coming back while still injured. He should be asymptomatic before we turn him loose. If he’s asymptomatic and not feeling anything and (medical images) are showing healing, then it’s probably appropriate to get him going again.”
Other Yankees Updates
The Yankees were 14-19 without Judge entering their series finale against the AL-East leading Tampa Bay Rays. Cashman also provided updates on other injured players, including slugger Giancarlo Stanton, who injured his right calf again, and infielder George Lombard Jr., who is hitting and throwing again after spraining two fingers on his left hand.
