New York Yankees’ standout slugger Aaron Judge is currently out of the lineup due to a bone bruise in his upper right rib, which is affecting his shoulder. This injury may keep him off the field for a few days, according to Yankees manager Aaron Boone.
Boone explained that Judge has been dealing with shoulder soreness for the past couple of weeks, which escalated during recent games in Sacramento. Tests conducted on the team’s off day revealed the bruise, and Judge is scheduled to meet with a team doctor for further evaluation.
Judge’s current stats include a .248 batting average with 17 home runs and 38 RBIs. Despite a recent slump, he ended an 11-game homer and RBI drought with a crucial two-run homer against Tampa Bay on May 24, securing a 2-0 victory for the Yankees.
Last season, Judge won the batting title with a career-high .331 average, 53 homers, and 114 RBIs. He missed 10 games due to a flexor strain in his right elbow but returned without requiring surgery.
Yankees’ Roster Adjustments
With Judge’s absence, José Caballero has been filling in as the right fielder. Caballero, acquired from Tampa Bay, made his 22nd career start in right field on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Giancarlo Stanton, who previously covered for Judge, remains out with a calf strain.
In other team news, Yankees prospect Carlos Lagrange is transitioning to a bullpen role at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre. This move aims to provide potential relief help at the major league level later this season. Lagrange, known for his powerful fastball, is rated as the Yankees’ fourth-best prospect.
