The Department of State is bringing passport services directly to Wyoming residents this week. Three free, in‑person passport acceptance fairs will be held in the state’s largest communities, giving families, students planning study abroad, business travelers and anyone needing a U.S. passport a convenient opportunity to apply or renew.
When and Where
- September 23: Cody – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- September 24: Casper – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- September 25: Buffalo (Fraley Room, Johnson County Library) – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All three locations are open to the public. No appointment is required, but applicants should arrive early to avoid crowds.
What to Bring
Every applicant must present proof of U.S. citizenship. Acceptable documents include an original birth certificate, a naturalization certificate, or a previously issued U.S. passport. In addition, a valid government‑issued photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, or military ID) is required. Applicants will also need to complete the standard passport application form (DS‑11 for first‑time applicants or DS‑82 for renewals) and provide a recent passport‑size photograph.
Fees and Processing
Standard passport fees apply. First‑time adult applicants pay $130 for a passport book, plus a $35 execution fee. Renewals cost $130 with the same execution fee waived when done by mail, but at the fairs the fee is collected on site. Expedited service is available for an additional $60, with processing typically completed within 24 hours for urgent travel.

By holding fairs in three key cities, the State Department reduces that burden, supporting families who plan summer vacations, students heading overseas for education, and professionals who need a passport for business trips.
