Wyoming Hiker Completes 500-Mile Trek

A solo hiker, Jakob Abildholt, has completed a 508-mile journey across Wyoming’s mountains in 25 days. He hiked from the north in Yellowstone, over the wild mountains of the Wind River Range, and through the dry and flat Red Desert to the south, following the Continental Divide Trail.

The Journey

Abildholt started the Continental Divide Trail in late June 2025 at the border to Canada, and this section of the hike covered miles 970 to 1470, from Montana to Colorado, hiking southbound. The Continental Divide Trail travels through some of Wyoming’s most stunningly diverse landscapes, including Yellowstone National Park, the Teton Wilderness, and the Wind River Range.

Abildholt edited the entire hike into a fifteen-minute YouTube video, showcasing some of the most stunning views and landscapes that Wyoming has to offer. He is a long-distance hiker, micro adventurer, and aspiring YouTube filmmaker, having thru-hiked both the Pacific Crest Trail and the Continental Divide Trail.
