The Wyoming high school golf season is set to begin this week, with practice starting on Monday and the first tournaments taking place on Wednesday and Thursday. The season will be a short six weeks, concluding by September 23. Four champions from the 2025 season will return to defend their titles, including Tazlyn Wagner, who has been dominant since her freshman year at Kemmerer High School.

Defending Champions

Wagner will be seeking her third consecutive title, having won the 2025 crown by 28 shots. Tate Nichols, one of the best golfers in the state, will also be returning to defend his title in the 3A division. Addison Bettinger from Buffalo and Trevan Benson from Kemmerer will also be looking to repeat as champions in their respective divisions.

Team Favorites

In the 2A division, Thermopolis and Ten Sleep are expected to be strong contenders for the girls’ team title, while Wright, Sundance, and Kemmerer will be vying for the boys’ title. In the 3A division, Wheatland is the favorite to win the girls’ team title, with Addison Bettinger and Haylie Nelson leading the way. The Wheatland boys’ team, led by Tate Nichols, will also be looking to defend their title.

4A Division

In the 4A division, the girls’ title is up for grabs, with several teams and individuals in contention. Khloe Romo from Kelly Walsh, Bella Beach from Central, and Cadence Smith from Campbell County are among the top returning players. The boys’ division will also be highly competitive, with Jaxon Burr from Campbell County and Cole Bunting from Sheridan among the top contenders.
