Rogers students returned to class on Wednesday, Aug. 12, as the district emphasizes safety and accelerated learning. Superintendent Jeff Perry said the district’s primary focus is keeping its students and staff safe. Over the summer, the district had safety audits on its buildings and increased its number of school safety officers.
Accelerated Learning Program
Rogers Public Schools is introducing a new accelerated learning program for language arts, math, and science. Students in middle school now have the chance to take classes for high school credit, which the district says will set students up for success. Perry said the district hopes to put in front of its children a rigorous curriculum that will challenge them daily and prepare them for college.
The district is also encouraging more kids to attend preschool, as early childhood education is a crucial part of preparing kids for kindergarten and beyond. Additionally, every student will once again be able to receive free breakfast every morning.
