Wylie High had multiple players and a coach recently recognized by the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches for their performances this season. The honors span both the boys and girls programs and include all-region and all-state acknowledgments that highlight individual contributions across the teams.

On the boys side, senior forward Zach Alshali earned a spot on the Class 6A all-state honorable-mention list, a postseason distinction reserved for standout performers statewide. Freshman goalkeeper Cristiano Reyna was voted to the first team for Region II-6A, marking an impressive start to his high school career, while freshman forward Luke Montgomery received an all-region honorable mention for his play up front.

The Wylie girls program also picked up postseason recognition. Senior midfielder Taylor Kelly and junior forward Kennedy Butler were both named to the all-region second team, acknowledging their roles in the Lady Pirates’ attack and midfield throughout the season.

At Wylie East, the coaching staff received praise as well: assistant coach Matt Tietjen was selected as the Region II-6A Assistant Coach of the Year, an award that reflects peer recognition of his work developing players and contributing to the team’s tactical preparation.

These TASCO honors—region and all-state selections and coaching awards—are determined by coaches and observers around the region and state, and they serve both as recognition of the individuals named and as an indication of the strength and depth of Wylie’s soccer programs. With freshmen already earning regional honors and upperclassmen continuing to shine, the outlook for the teams in coming seasons appears promising.
