Wylie residents have a chance to support dozens of local charities as North Texas Giving Day returns on Thursday, Sept. 17. The annual event, now in its 18th year, invites North Texans to donate online at NorthTexasGivingDay.org through Sept. 17, with early giving already underway since Aug. 27.
Why the day matters for Wylie
North Texas Giving Day has become one of the region’s largest charitable drives. In 2025, more than 100,000 donors contributed $78 million to over 3,500 nonprofits across education, health, the arts, the environment and animal welfare. Since its start, the campaign has generated $712 million for North Texas nonprofits.
This year, the Communities Foundation of Texas – the organization that presents the Giving Day – is covering all transaction and technology fees. That means 100% of online donations made through the platform go directly to the participating groups.
Wylie organizations on the list
Among the Wylie-area nonprofits taking part are:
- Agape Resource & Assistance Center/Jericho Village – seeking $300,000 to expand housing and family‑support services.
- Hidden Pastures – raising funds for animal‑care, scholarships and facility improvements for its horse‑centered farm programs.
- Hope Bridge Pregnancy Resource Center and Hope’s Gate – providing pregnancy testing, ultrasounds and parenting education.
- In‑Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center – caring for rescued exotic cats, with monthly food costs over $21,000 and annual medical expenses exceeding $250,000.
- Wylie Community Band – aiming for $6,000 to cover rehearsal space, instrument purchases and insurance.
- Wylie Ministerial Alliance/Wylie Christian Care Center – seeking assistance for food, clothing, diapers, pet food, rent, utilities and a mobile coffee trailer for its Adulting Well program.
How donations will be used
Each organization has specific needs. The Wylie Christian Care Center plans to use contributions for basic necessities for families in crisis and to fund a mobile coffee trailer that gives students real‑world work experience. In‑Sync Exotics will apply donations to food, medical care and the development of new sanctuary habitats, with up to $18,000 matched during the campaign.
The Wylie Community Band relies on donor support to keep rehearsals and public performances alive, to purchase music, and to co‑sponsor the “Wylie in the Meyerson” concert slated for March 6, 2027.
Hidden Pastures will direct funds toward fencing, shelter construction, pasture upgrades and scholarships that enable youth, veterans, first responders and families to experience its farm programs.
Getting involved
Donors can search for participating nonprofits and make contributions at NorthTexasGivingDay.org. All online gifts counted between Aug. 27 and Sept. 17 will be applied to each organization’s fundraising goal.
While many Wylie charities take part, participation does not imply endorsement by the Communities Foundation of Texas or its Giving Day partners. The event simply offers a convenient way for residents to support the causes they care about most.
