Wylie East and Wylie cross‑country teams shine at DUBEast Invitational

Wylie and Wylie East cross‑country squads returned from Founders Park on Friday with impressive results at the DUBEast Invitational, underscoring the depth of talent in our community’s running programs.

Girls’ elite race highlights

Defending district champion Evangeline Williams of Wylie East proved she remains a force, finishing second in the girls’ 5,000‑meter elite varsity race with a time of 18:04.74. Her performance helped the Lady Raiders secure a fourth‑place team finish with 124 points, just behind Frisco Wakeland’s 67‑point total.

Freshman Olivia Jeffcoats continued her upward trajectory, placing 20th in 19:42.49. Junior Amiya Runsewe and junior Isabelle Price followed at 22nd (19:47.79) and 27th (19:57.32), respectively, while junior Reagan Tolar and junior Renata Saucedo rounded out the top 60.

Boys’ team effort

The Wylie East boys posted a solid fourth‑place team finish with 154 points. Senior Michael Price led the pack, finishing sixth overall in 15:48. Sophomore Tyson Em recorded the next best time for the Raiders at 20th (16:22), and junior Jaden Parish placed 34th (16:40.68). Additional Raiders who broke the top 100 included freshman Carson Clark (41st, 16:45.66) and sophomore Isaac Pretus (68th, 17:24.32).

Open‑race participants

Both schools fielded runners in the open 5,000‑meter races. In the boys’ division, junior Preston Takacs (55th, 18:38.31) and senior Christian Baez (60th, 18:47.49) represented Wylie East, while the girls’ side saw sophomore Amparo Neri Ulloa finish 29th (22:52.65) and senior Adrianna Mathis 75th (24:14.19).

Lady Pirates dominate boys’ competition

The Wylie Lady Pirates captured the boys’ championship with a commanding 43‑point total, far ahead of second‑place Royse City (80 points). Senior Alexis Lee set the tone, taking third overall (20:52.23) and joining two other Lady Pirates in the top ten. Freshman Alice Hall (sixth, 21:21.9) and sophomore Emerson Pierce (tenth, 21:29.56) rounded out the strong showing.

Other notable finishes for the Pirates included sophomore Vanessa Vazquez (13th, 21:45.19), sophomore Kyndell Bacon (19th, 22:08.95), and junior Mia Palka (27th, 22:38.35). Freshman Noah Nash paced the Wylie boys to a fifth‑place team finish, posting a 16th‑place time of 17:46.39.

Overall, the DUBEast Invitational highlighted the dedication of our student‑athletes, the supportive coaching staff, and the vibrant cross‑country culture that continues to thrive in Wylie and Wylie East.
