IRVING, Texas – An arrest affidavit released by the Irving Police Department details a harrowing encounter on the Shady Grove Trail that ended with a woman defending herself by biting her attacker’s chest.
What happened on the trail
At approximately 8:24 p.m. on Sept. 14, 2026, a woman was walking the Shady Grove Trail at 799 W. Vilbig St. while tying her shoe. She noticed a man, later identified as 29‑year‑old Isaac Guevara, passing her repeatedly. While she was squatting, Guevara approached from behind, grabbed her, and made unwanted sexual contact.
When the victim stood and tried to leave, Guevara demanded her hand, repeatedly telling her to give it to him. He then seized her shirt to prevent her escape and threatened, “If you move or scream, I’ll stab you. Turn around.”
Self‑defense
Fearing that Guevara was reaching for a weapon, the woman saw his hand move toward his pocket and believed he was pulling out a knife. To stop him, she grabbed his hand and bit him on the left collarbone and upper chest area. The sudden pain caused Guevara to release her and flee the park.
Investigation and arrest
Police released surveillance footage of the suspect, prompting community members to submit tips that identified Guevara. He was taken into custody on Sept. 18 on an unrelated outstanding warrant and booked into the Irving Jail.
Following his arrest, the victim identified Guevara in a double‑blind photo lineup. Detectives read Guevara his Miranda rights and he subsequently confessed to the attempted aggravated kidnapping, including the threat to use a knife.
Charges
Guevara is now charged with attempted aggravated kidnapping. The case remains under investigation, and authorities have not disclosed any additional charges.
Community response
Local residents expressed concern for safety on the park’s trails and praised the victim’s quick thinking. Irving Police encourage anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to report it immediately.
