According to a Town of Palm Beach Police Department report, Scharf arrived in a grey Hyundai with dark‑tinted windows and parked near a security screening area. A Secret Service agent observed her exit the vehicle, walk to a hose and sprinkler system, and claim she was “here for a car wash.”
When the agent asked for identification, Scharf re‑entered the Hyundai, closed the driver’s door and attempted to leave the checkpoint. The agent photographed the license plate and ordered her to stop. Instead, Scharf drove the vehicle toward the agent, forcing the officer to move out of the way to avoid being struck.

Police again ordered her to exit. After multiple verbal commands, officers approached, made visual contact and removed Scharf from the vehicle. At that moment, a police K‑9 leapt over her and bit a responding officer. The officer shot the dog, which later died.

Scharf now faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding police, resisting arrest without violence, and two counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle. As of Wednesday afternoon, she remains in the Palm Beach County jail.
