WNBA guard Natasha Cloud condemns men throwing sex toys during Chicago Sky game

During the third quarter of the Chicago Sky versus Golden State Valkyrie game on Friday, three sex toys were thrown onto the court, interrupting play. The incident follows a similar disruption that occurred the previous night in Los Angeles when a neon‑green toy was tossed during a Dream‑Sparks game.

Cloud’s response

Sky guard Natasha Cloud was asked about the repeated interruptions after the game. In a two‑minute interview she used strong language to describe the perpetrators, saying, “Y’all lame as f—k,” and continuing with a series of name‑calling and slurs. Cloud asserted that the act of purchasing a sex toy and then throwing it at a women’s basketball game was “the gayest thing” she had ever heard.

She added, “I’m a firm believer that anyone who has a problem with a certain marginalized group should come out and say they’re part of that group because that hate is unwarranted. It says more about the internal struggles of that individual than it does about the collective group.” Cloud argued that the men who threw the toys were displaying weakness and a lack of respect for women.

Call for change

Cloud urged the individuals responsible to consider coming out, suggesting they would be happier and kinder if they stopped the disruptive behavior. She mocked the idea that the perpetrators needed therapy, saying, “You don’t need to go to therapy or none of that s—t. Just be yourself.” The guard also made a sarcastic comment about the financial transaction involved in buying the toys, noting, “It’s like they have to go through their financial advisor and be like, ‘What’s this green dildo? You good, Chad? You good, Richard? Are you good, Paul?’”

While Cloud’s remarks were undeniably harsh, she emphasized that the act of throwing sex toys onto the court was a waste of money and effort for very little payoff. She expressed concern that such disruptions could become a recurring problem if not addressed.

League reaction

The WNBA has not yet issued an official statement regarding Cloud’s comments or the repeated incidents of sex toys being thrown onto the court. The league has previously faced criticism for allowing political and cultural debates to dominate its product, and this latest controversy adds another layer of public scrutiny.

Fans and commentators have expressed a range of reactions, from support for Cloud’s blunt condemnation to criticism of her language and the use of the word “gay” as an insult. Some observers noted that the incidents highlight a broader issue of disrespectful behavior at sporting events.

Looking ahead

Both teams are expected to review security protocols to prevent further interruptions. The Sky and Valkyrie organizations have not disclosed any specific changes at this time.

As the season progresses, the WNBA will likely need to address how to balance fan expression with maintaining a respectful environment for players and spectators alike.
