Wishbone, a beloved West Loop brunch spot, is closing after 36 years. Co-owners Joel Nickson and Julie Nickson announced the closing on social media and the restaurant’s website Monday morning.
The restaurant does not yet have a closing date, but hopes to stay open through the end of the month, according to the post. Wishbone is known for its menu of Southern-inspired comfort food like shrimp and grits and Hoppin’ John.
Wishbone opened in 1990 at 1800 W. Grand Ave., later moving to 1001 W. Washington Blvd. where it operated for 26 years. In 2018, the restaurant moved to its current location at 161 N. Jefferson St., citing rising rents in the area.
