A Wisconsin woman’s honeymoon was ruined by diarrhea after she contracted Cyclosporiasis at Yellowstone National Park. Newlywed Gretchen Pleuss caught the parasite during her honeymoon and was hospitalized with stomach pain and constant diarrhea.

Pleuss’ symptoms included stomach pain that got so bad it landed her in the hospital. Doctors confirmed that she had the Cyclospora parasite. Despite the illness, the couple tried to make the best of their honeymoon, saying ‘it’s still our honeymoon, so we’re making the best of it’ and ‘our vows said in sickness and in health, so we’re just getting an early start on that’.
