The election for the Ginseng Board of Wisconsin is currently open, offering local ginseng growers the opportunity to elect their representatives. These elected producers will serve three-year terms starting July 1, 2026. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has mailed ballots to eligible ginseng growers during the week of May 11, 2026.
Voting Details
Growers who have not received their ballots by May 20, 2026, can request one by contacting the DATCP Market Orders staff at [email protected]. Eligible voters have the option to vote for nominated growers or write in names of other eligible producers. To ensure their votes are counted, completed ballots must be emailed to [email protected] or postmarked to DATCP, Market Orders Program, PO Box 8911, Madison, WI 53708, on or before June 15, 2026.
Role of the Ginseng Board
The Ginseng Board of Wisconsin is composed of seven at-large producers who are tasked with administering Wisconsin’s Ginseng Marketing Order. The board is responsible for overseeing the collection and use of approximately $215,000 in assessment fees paid by Wisconsin ginseng growers. These funds are utilized to support the industry through research, education, and promotion of Wisconsin-grown ginseng.
