Growing up on San Antonio’s West Side, culture and family were deeply important to Cindy Gomez Dandridge. Despite struggling with addiction and personal tragedies, she found solace in her community and its traditions.
From Struggle to Recovery
At 38, Dandridge checked herself into The Center for Health Care Services for heroin addiction. With the help of programs like Haven for Hope and CHCS, she began to feel a renewed sense of pride in her community.
After completing a long-term treatment program, Dandridge regained her life and has not looked back since. She is now a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, helping others regain their lives and find healing from cycles of pain.
West Side Pride
The West Side is more than just a neighborhood to Dandridge; it is where she found recovery, purpose, and the strength to help others. She feels privileged to see how her work has touched members of the community, with some choosing sobriety and building healthier lives for themselves and their families.
