City of Washougal officials are saddened to learn of the passing of former council member Paul Greenlee, who died on July 5, 2026, at the age of 80. Greenlee’s commitment to public service began after his retirement, when he contacted then-Mayor Stacey Sellers and asked how he could help his community.
Legacy of Service
That conversation led to an appointment to the Washougal Planning Commission and in 2007 to the City Council, where he served for nearly 15 years helping guide Washougal through a period of growth and change. Greenlee served on the City Council until 2021. During his time on the Council, Paul was instrumental in shaping Washougal’s strategic vision, advocating for the change in form of government, and championing fiscal stewardship and investment in critical infrastructure.
He was respected for his thoughtful approach to public service, his willingness to listen, and his commitment to finding solutions that benefited the community. Paul cared deeply about Washougal and never lost sight of why he chose to serve, said City Manager David Scott. No matter the occasion, Paul always showed up. He always had an encouraging word and was a tireless champion for our community.
