Why community input matters
District leaders emphasize that a strategic plan should reflect the values and priorities of the families it serves. By gathering feedback directly from parents, teachers, students and local business owners, WCSD hopes to ensure that future policies support strong families, uphold parental rights in education and promote a safe, faith‑friendly learning environment.
“Our goal is to create a plan that empowers every student and respects the role of families in guiding their children’s education,” said Trustee Dr. Diane Nicolet. “We want to hear from the community so the plan truly represents the hopes and concerns of Washoe County residents.”
Participants are encouraged to share thoughts on academic programs, extracurricular opportunities, facility improvements and how resources can be allocated most effectively. The district plans to compile the feedback and incorporate it into a draft strategic document that will be presented to the board later this year.

By actively engaging with the district’s planning process, families help shape an educational environment that aligns with traditional values, supports academic excellence and prepares students for success in a rapidly changing world.
