Walmart, the country’s largest grocer, has announced rollbacks on thousands of items for summer road trips and pool parties. The discounts include lower prices on ground beef, ribs, soda, and more at Walmart and Sam’s Club locations.
Trump Claims Credit
President Donald Trump is taking credit for the summer sale, claiming that a request from his administration led to the discounts. He highlighted an alleged 15% discount on beef, stating that it’s a huge deal for Americans who shop at Walmart.
However, summer sales are typical for chains like Walmart, and these discounts had been in place for a week before Trump’s announcement. The discounts include a 12% price cut on 73% ground beef, now priced at $5.94 a pound, and roughly 50% discounts on corn on the cob and cherries.
Prices and Discounts
Other discounted items include 24-packs of Pepsi and Coca-Cola products, now priced at $9.97, and a 200-count of disposable paper plates, which are now $1 off. Sam’s Club is also offering discounts on 250 items, including chicken wings, beef hot dogs, and ribs.
Walmart did not comment on Trump’s claims, and the White House has not responded to requests for comment. The discounts come as many Americans express dissatisfaction with Trump’s economy, with 77% of respondents in a CNN poll stating that his policies have increased the cost of living in their communities.
