A vintage 1965 Lambretta scooter once owned by Paul Weller, the former frontman of The Jam and The Style Council, is set to be auctioned off. The scooter, a Li 150 Special ‘Stanley Road’ model, features designs based on those by celebrated artist Peter Blake.
Weller had previously donated the Lambretta to a CancerBACUP benefit concert, where he signed it, along with Peter Blake. The scooter is now being offered with several items of memorabilia, including copies of Scootering magazine, a limited-edition print of the original photoshoot in Margate with Paul Weller, and a framed copy of the Stanley Road album.
The Lambretta is one of 328 auction lots at the H&H Classics at the National Motorcycle Museum on July 22. According to Lucas Gomersall, specialist at H&H Classics, ‘There are special scooters, and then there are very, very special scooters, in a league of their own for desirability and collectability.’ The scooter is expected to fetch $62,000.
