Veterans Share War Stories Through Music at Trump Kennedy Center

The Trump Kennedy Center recently hosted a moving event where veterans and active-duty service members shared their war stories through music. The performance, titled “From Military to Music,” took place just days after Memorial Day, drawing a full house eager to honor those who serve.

Roma Daravi, vice president of communications for the Trump Kennedy Center, emphasized the importance of supporting veterans, especially in the wake of Memorial Day, a time to remember those who sacrificed for our freedom. “These are veteran independent artists, and it was an honor to have them perform for a full house,” Daravi told Fox News Digital.

The event featured performances by Brooks Herring, Brennan Clements, Jackson Perkins, and Torv, who are veterans and active-duty musicians. Their songs, inspired by combat experiences, trauma, and healing, resonated with the audience, blending live music with personal reflections on military service, loss, resilience, and recovery.

The nonprofit organization CreatiVets, which organized the event, works with veterans struggling with trauma and the transition to civilian life by pairing them with professional songwriters and artists. This initiative highlights the therapeutic power of art and music in the healing process.

Renovations and Future Plans

The showcase comes at a significant time for the Trump Kennedy Center, as it prepares for a $257 million renovation project. The board unanimously approved the renovation, which will address decades of deferred maintenance, including infrastructure and structural issues. The center will temporarily close for two years after July 4 to complete these renovations.

President Donald Trump has framed the renovation as part of a broader mission to restore the Kennedy Center to its former grandeur. The administration and center leadership are also focusing on patriotic programming as part of efforts to reshape Washington’s cultural landscape ahead of America’s 250th birthday celebration.

The “From Military to Music” event was streamed live from the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage in Washington, D.C., allowing a broader audience to experience the powerful performances and reflections shared by the veterans.
